Crackers' Story

Hello,

My name is Crackers.

In July of 1997 my mommy decided that she needed a friend.  You
see, she works days and my daddy works nights, so she was home
alone a lot.  I have two older sisters, but they are big and have to stay
This is me just being cute. outside.  Mommy decided that she wanted a little buddy to be in the
ab house with her to keep her company.

She had called the local animal shelter and told them that she was
looking for a small dog.  A couple of days later, they called her and
told her that they had just gotten a Shihtzu in and asked if she would be
interested in coming to see me.  She said yes and even left work early
that day to come see me!

When she got to the animal shelter, they told her my sad story.  You
This is a picture of me see, I had lived with an older lady who passed away.  Her daughter had
waiting to take a ride taken me in for a while, but she had two other dogs and children and
in Mommy's truck. decided she could not keep me, so she took me to the pound.

When mommy arrived, I was so excited to see her!  I had been in the
shelter only a couple of days, but I was so lonely!  Mommy was not
sure about me at first, she had never had a small dog and thought I was
awfully hyper.  But after looking into my eyes, she could not resist.
She found out later that I am not hyper at all, I was just excited!

After mommy signed all the papers to adopt me, she asked the lady
at the shelter if I had ever ridden in a vehicle before.  They said they
This is me playing did not know.  But when we walked out to mommy’s truck I surprised
Santa Claus last Christmas. her.  She opened the door and I jumped right in.  It was hot that day
ab and she turned the air conditioner on.  I immediately stuck my face up
toward the vent.  She should have known then that I love the wind in
  my face.

After mommy had me for a while, she talked to some different people
and discovered that I am in fact a Maltese and not a Shihtzu.  Not that
it really matters what I am.

Mommy says that getting me from the shelter was one of the
This is me sitting on smartest things she has ever done.  Not only did she rescue an animal
Daddy's motorcycle. and give me a new home, she gained a best friend who was already
ab housebroken and has turned out to be the smartest little dog you have
   ever seen (according to mommy).

My favorite thing to do is ride in the truck,  I love to hang my head out
the window and let the wind blow in my face.  It does not matter if it is
raining or snowing or freezing cold outside, I still love to do it.
Second only to that, I love playing with my three sisters, Cookie,
Gypsy & Gizmo, and spending time with mommy and daddy.

This is me at Thank you mommy for adopting me from the shelter.  I wish more
Salamonie State Park people would consider that when they want a new pet.  You never
in Lagro, Indiana know, you might find your new best friend there – Mommy did – me!
